Craftech celebrates 40th anniversary.
Craftech Industries, Inc. will be observing its 40th year in business this year.

The founder of Craftech, Donald Whiteman, began business in 1967 when he saw the potential for plastics in the fastener industry. Screw machining of nylon parts was his first step in building this new company,

Forty years later, Craftech is a recognized leader in the plastic fastener industry. With three different divisions; screw machining, injection molding/mold building and distribution, Craftech is able to provide specialized service to its customers’ needs, We work in all high performance engineered plastic materials and serve the semiconductor, telecommunications, medical, chemical, aerospace, electronics, water quality and waste managment and other commercial markets, worldwide.

As we look to the future, our goal is to continue providing great service to our customers, investigating new technologies, developing new products and finding solutions to our customers’ needs.

New equipment greatly expands our manufacturing range.

Craftech has invested in new equipment, providing increased capabilities and production capacity In response to a steady growth in sales and to meet customer needs.

Craftech’s most recent purchase is a Daewoo double turret, double spindle CNC lathe with 3" bar capacity and with live tooling. This machine will allow front and backworking on two parts simultaneously.

The new CNC machine’s large bore size will enable Craftech, for example, to produce very large hex nuts/bolts through 1-3/4 inch, with lengths up through 12 inches or more.

Craftech has always made custom milled and turned parts, in addition to our standard procuct lines. However, our new mill-turn lathe will enable us to greatly expand our range of potential shapes while shortening our delivery times.

Other equipment purchases and upgrades include high-speed Sumitomo injection molding machines with automated STAR robots.

IXEF Polyarylamide

IXEF 1521 is a 50% glass-fiber reinforced, flame retardant polyarylaminde which exhibits high strength and stiffness, outstanding surface gloss, and excellent creep resistance.

The IXEF family of materials consists of polyarylamide resins compounded with glass fibers, minerals, and other additives. The compounds in this family are characterized by high strength and stiffness, creep resistance at high stress levels, high flow, low and slow moisture pickup, excellent dimensional stability, and excellent surface quality and gloss.

They can be easily processed on conventional injection molding equipment. IXEF 1521’s glass transition temperature of approximately 185°F (85°C) offers remarkable rigidity for a polymeric material and its combination of properties makes the material an excellent candidate for metal replacement in many market areas.

IXEF compounds resist a wide range of chemical products such as aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons, ketones, esters, ethers and glycols; aqueous solutions of many chemicals and cleaning fluids. An expanded explanation of chemical resistance and other technical information can be found at www.solvayadvancedpolymers.com.
